SA INDIE 08 will be held in San Antonio, Texas, September 26-28, 2008.

SA INDIE was first organized in 2007 to provide local, national, and international musicians the chance to showcase their talents in San Antonio. It also allows music fans living in and around San Antonio a closer-to-home opportunity to experience great music from around the country and around the world. The end of September brings cooler weather to San Antonio, after months of sweltering heat. A music festival held in San Antonio's music venues in the beautiful fall weather will take advantage of the lull in tourism and help the city economically.

SA INDIE is in no way affiliated with South by Southwest, but it was the first Texas music festival to coincide with the highly successful Austin festival. While the first SA INDIE was held in March 2007, future events are scheduled for the month of October to relieve bands of scheduling conflicts with South by Southwest and to encourage our favorite touring bands to make another stop in San Antonio later in the year.

SA INDIE was founded by Delphine Gunning, who owned and operated San Antonio's music listening room The Red Room. Ms Gunning is an experienced music promoter who has developed, through The Red Room, an extensive list of professional relationships with independent musical artists from all over the world. She started South by San Antonio to help the city participate in the expansion of the Texas music festival industry.

The SA INDIE staff has been deluged with emails and telephone calls from bands wanting to play the festival. The deadline for applications is August 31, 2008, but slots will fill fast, so get your packages ready and be ready contact us when we begin accepting applications.
